How do I apply for a position with BYAC?

Simply fill in the attached application form and send it together with your CV to BYAC Contractors. You can do this on line or by e-mail or by mail.

What positions are available through BYAC Contractors?

Currently we place people in either casual Sentry/Trades Assistant positions, forklift operators, truck drivers, plant operators or in permanent positions such as truck driving or Trades Assistant.

What does a Sentry do?

Throughout the year, the mine site has a planned schedule of “shutdowns” when maintenance work is carried out. During shutdown, the role of sentry is a critical one. A Sentry is the 'eyes and ears' of the tradespeople carrying out the maintenance work in hazardous areas or environments. The Sentry authorises people to enter the minesite area.

Is training provided for Sentry work?

Yes, BYAC arranges full training in all aspects of the Sentry role. This is done either on site, but usually off site in Perth.

Can a Sentry train in other skills?

Yes – BYAC encourages and supports our employees to continually upgrade their skills to broaden their employment opportunities and choices.

What are the pre-requisites to train as a Sentry?

An applicant must be fit, not have a fear of heights or confined spaces and be of good character and have a good work ethic. Adequate reading, writing skills are needed, as is the ability to speak clearly eg when using a two way radio for communication especially in emergencies.
